Project Description

Consulting module “Data, data management and GIS”

Reliable data is the key to planning, funding and acceptance, especially for heating network projects. Without a sound data basis, it is not possible to plan cost-effective networks, apply for funding or convince investors. Poor data is the greatest project risk. What needs to be developed in a structured process?

  • GIS database for relevant buildings and networks

  • Reliable data on energy / heat demand (heat sinks) load profiles, connection densities

  • the register of local heat sources (waste heat, geothermal energy, etc.)

  • Forecasts and profiles for usage development and heat load in the district or business

  • a standardized data structure that enables integrated evaluation, planning and simulation

Scope of the module

EXAVY supports the structured development of the necessary database for the energy project, converts existing data into a usable data model and compiles a GIS-compatible cadastre for the project in the required quality.

  • Data situation & data inventory

    • Collection of existing data sources (buildings, network, load, geodata)

    • Assessment of data quality and gaps

    • Consolidation into a structured model

  • Heat source and sink model

    • Recording local heat sources (waste heat, geothermal energy, biomass, CHP, etc.)

    • Modeling of sinks (building types, load profiles, heat applications)

    • Geographical analysis (GIS) & clustering

  • Forecast & scenario development

    • Forecasts for heating requirements (demographic, energy)

    • Use of open data, cadastre, digital twins

    • Scenarios for expansion options, usage patterns, life cycle

  • Data usage & integration

    • Provision as a standardized data basis for planning, funding and investors

    • API integration in planning and funding processes

    • Link with financial models (LCOH, CAPEX/OPEX, business case)

Promise of results: Data as the foundation of successful projects

  • A complete digital data model that supports all project phases

  • a sound basis for decision-making on technical, economic and political options

  • a reliable project data structure that convinces investors, funding agencies and approval authorities

  • a future-proof GIS-compatible data management system that is transferred to operation, monitoring and reporting
