Project Description

Project development phase “Network planning to detailed planning”

A heating network is not a product of intuition – it is the result of a well-founded, technical and economic evaluation process. Only a comparison of variants, impact analysis and detailed planning can turn an idea into a feasible project. EXAVY accompanies this process methodically and in an integrated manner – from the rough conception to the resilient network concept, which harmonizes technical feasibility, economic efficiency and eligibility for funding. What we develop specifically for the project:

  • Comparison of technical grid variants – comparison of grid architectures (e.g. cold grid, high temperature, LowEx) according to efficiency, cost, effect

  • Evaluate generation and source options – scenarios for heat sources (waste heat, solar thermal energy, CHP, heat pump) and their combinability

  • Dimensioning and grid routing – connected load, grid losses, temperature levels and routing

  • Viability and sustainability assessment – technical and ecological impact, CO₂ savings, life cycle costs

  • Optimization via scenarios and variants – simulation of technical, regulatory and economic scenarios

  • Transfer to an integrated network concept – consolidation of all options into a precise concept with cost framework and operating scenarios

Scope of the module

EXAVY develops viable grid concepts – resilient for approval, funding, operation and investment. We manage the planning process from a technical, economic and regulatory perspective – including a comparison of variants, LCOH evaluation and sustainability assessment.

  • Variant development & concept comparison

    • Development of grid and generation variants based on the data situation
    • Rough dimensioning according to connected loads, routing, heat source mix
    • Scenario modeling: expansion paths, temperature concepts, load profiles
  • Evaluation & optimization

    • LCOH calculation per variant (Levelized Cost of Heat)
    • CO₂ and primary energy analysis per concept
    • Decision matrix with evaluation according to economic efficiency, eligibility, ESG
  • Technical network concept & pre-dimensioning

    • Creation of the final network concept with power paths and hydraulic structure
    • Coordination with generation concepts, buffer systems and neighborhood logic
    • Rough planning of grid management, load flows, storage systems
  • Integration of promotion & approval

    • Representation of system boundaries and RE shares relevant to subsidies
    • Preparation of technical content for funding applications (e.g. BEW)
    • Coordination with approval authorities and specialist planning
  • Handover to detailed planning

    • Handover of technical results and scenarios to HOAI planners
    • Preparation of specifications for detailed planning, tendering or general planner
    • Recommendation for integration into higher-level energy or climate plans
  • Closing of financing & kick-off

    • Selection of suitable financing partners
    • Finalization of contracts, applications and participation documents
    • Preparation of call-off of funds, milestone payments and reporting structure

Promise of success: A resilient network concept with a future

  • a variant-based technical concept that is economical, ecological and eligible for funding

  • a transparent planning process with evaluation of all relevant options for action

  • a network model that can be transferred to detailed planning and project implementation

  • a prerequisite for promotion, approaching investors and eligibility for approval

  • a strategic contribution to the heat transition in your municipality or neighborhood
